What is a doula?
Doulas are non-medical care providers. We provide assistance with prenatal education, labor and birth support, and postpartum care.
Why should I hire a doula?
Doulas are perfect for anyone wanting extra support. If you want prenatal education, more comfort during labor, support for your partner and help during the postpartum period, consider hiring a doula!
What if I already have a partner/support person?
Doulas do not replace your existing support, we are there to support everyone involved. If another support person is involved we will let them be as hands on as they want. We can guide your partner in helping you with comfort measures, take over when they need breaks and help to educate you both on the birth process.
What’s the difference between a midwife and doula?
A Midwife provides medical care for you and your baby. Doulas do not provide medical care, support only. But we do work wonderfully as a team!
What are the benefits of a birth doula?
Risk of Cesarean decreased by 28% Epidural use is decreased by over 9% Pitocin for induction drops by 31% Likelihood of spontaneous vaginal birth is increased by 12% Numerous studies show that continuous support for women during childbirth, show a very high number of positive birth outcomes and intervention rates were dramatically lowered when a doula was present.
